Anne C. and William P. Harris Endowed Scholarship
The Anne C. and William P. Harris Endowed Scholarship was established in September 2008 with a gift from Mr. and Mrs. Harris. Mr. Harris is a 1965 graduate of High Point College and received his law degree from Wake Forest University in 1968. Mr. Harris retired as a former partner of the law firm Wyatt Early Harris Wheeler LLP in High Point, NC. Mr. Harris served High Point University as a member of the Alumni Board of Directors and the Board of Visitors. In addition, Mr. Harris served on the boards of several local nonprofit organizations: Habitat for Humanity International, Hospice of the Piedmont, and the Young Men’s Christian Association of High Point. Mr. Harris and his family own Sandhill Turn, Inc. of Eagle Springs, North Carolina. Mrs. Harris graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1967. Following graduation, she was employed as a teacher by the Forsyth County Schools in Winston-Salem, NC. Mrs. Harris is active in First United Methodist Church and community affairs. Mr. and Mrs. Harris are the parents of three sons (Charles, Mark and Andy) and have seven grandchildren. Recipients of the Anne C. and William P. Harris Endowed Scholarship will be selected by the Office of Financial Planning and will provide scholarship support to one or more students with a demonstrated financial need and a clear social record from Montgomery or Moore County, North Carolina. The scholarship may be renewable as long as the recipient maintains a 2.5 GPA and a clear disciplinary record with the University.
