Bishop Thomas B. and Jean S. Stockton Scholarship
The Bishop Thomas B. and Jean S. Stockton Scholarship was established in 1998 by Bishop and Mrs. Stockton to provide funding for students with demonstrated financial need. First consideration should be given to students majoring in religion. Otherwise, the funds may support any student with an established need. Scholarship are renewable based upon successful completion of the previous year’s work as long as the recipient maintains a B average and a clear social record as evidence of their dedication to study and serious desire for an education. Bishop Thomas B. Stockton served as a clergyman in the United Methodist Church in the Western North Carolina Annual Conference, as the Bishop of the Virginia Annual Conference, and as a longtime member of the High Point University Board of Trustees. Mrs. Stockton earned a Bachelor of Science and the Master of Education degrees from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and served on the faculty of Duke University, Queens College at Charlotte, and Marks Hill College.
