Carl V. and Louise H. Downing Endowed Scholarship

The Carl V. and Louise H. Downing Endowed Scholarship was established n 2015 through a gift from Mr. Carl V. and Mrs. Louise H. Downing, of Hamilton County, Ohio. The Fund shall be administered under the following guidelines: Scholarships shall be awarded to (i) American Citizens, (ii) pursuing a degree in business with a preference to a degree in accounting and further preference to a concentration in taxation, (iii) maintain a grade point average of not less than 75% (e.g. 3.0 of 4.0) AND preference for the Scholarship(s) shall be for (i) students who attended an accredited, public high school in Davidson, Randolph or southern Guilford counties for their high school career. Scholarship recipients shall be selected by the University or such group or committee designated by the University for scholarship selection and administration. This scholarship may be renewed upon the successful completion of the previous year’s work. The University shall provide an annual report on the Fund, including fund balances and a description of the uses of the assets of the Fund (the “Annual Report”), to Carl V. and Louise H. Downing’s grandchildren, Dr. Christina Copple and Brian Downing during the Designee’s lifetime. After the death of Designees, the University may, but shall have no obligation to, provide the Annual Report to any individual. Twenty-five percent (25%) of the annual income shall be added to the corpus of the fund and seventy-five percent (75%) of the annual income shall be expended for one or more scholarships.
