Mrs. Maynard was born and raised in High Point, NC. Mr. Maynard was born in Belmont, NC, and moved to High Point, NC in 1966 to be with his bride, Kay. They have two children and five grandchildren. Kay’s family has played an important role in the evolution of High Point University for generations. Starting with the leadership of Gurney Kearns on the Board of Trustees in 1934, followed by Charles L. Kearns, and today with Kay. Kay and Dusty have supported several projects at HPU including the Maynard Pool at the Slane Center and the Hydrotherapy Area at the Witcher Athletic Center. Dusty and Kay demonstrate significant interest in High Point University and wish to establish an endowed scholarship. The scholarship will benefit students with demonstrated financial need and/or demonstrated academic performance as determined by the High Point Office of Financial Planning. This scholarship may be renewed upon the successful completion of the previous year’s work.
