Douglas S. Witcher Endowed Scholarship

The Douglas S. Witcher Endowed Scholarship Fund was established at High Point University in September 2016 by Douglas S. Witcher of High Point, NC and La Quinta, CA. Mr. Witcher is a 1977 graduate of High Point University. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees and was the lead investor in the Witcher Athletic Center named in his honor. Mr. Witcher is the found of the Smart Choice® Agents Program. Launched in 1994, Smart Choice was established to help independent agents access better markets and establish solid relationships with some of the top insurance carriers in the nation. Mr. Witcher has over 30 years experience in the insurance industry, and most recently, launched Smart Choice Insurance Centers, designed to give independent agents brand name awareness in their communities as well as marketing and sales tools. He is the father of three children. Mr. Witcher demonstrates significant interest in High Point University and wishes to establish an endowed scholarship. The scholarship will support students with a demonstrated financial need, as determined by the High Point University Office of Financial Planning. This scholarship may be renewed upon the successful completion of the previous year’s work.
