Dwight Moody Nifong Scholarship
The Dwight Moody Nifong Scholarship was established in 1988 by Marion Craig Nifong in loving memory of her husband, the Reverend Nifong. Moody Nifong received a bachelor of arts degree from High Point College in 1933 and was ordained an Elder in the Western North Carolina Conference of The United Methodist Church in 1938. Following his retirement from the full-time ministry in 1964, The Reverend Nifong was named Pastor Emeritus of the Midway United Methodist Church, his home congregation. His ministry was characterized by a strong emphasis upon missions and evangelism. Recipients of the Nifong Scholarship will be selected by the Office of Financial Planning based on a financial need, with preference given to individuals pursuing a curriculum in a church-related career or in education.
