E. Vance Davis Scholarship

The E. Vance Davis Endowed Scholarship was established in 2004 as a result of gifts from Dr. and Mrs. Davis and other family members and friends. Dr. Davis served as a member of the High Point College faculty from 1973 until his retirement in 2006. In 1988 he was selected Dean of High Point College and later assumed the title of Vice President for Academic Affairs at High Point University. Prior to becoming Dean, Dr. Davis served as a faculty member and Chair of the Department of Religion and Philosophy. A native of Waynesville, North Carolina, Dr. Davis received his undergraduate degree from High Point College and a Master of Divinity degree from Yale University. He earned a Doctorate at Drew University, New Jersey. Recipients of the Davis Scholarship will be selected by the Office of Financial Planning based on academic potential inside of the classroom and willingness to become achievers that improve the university or the surrounding High Point community. Preference will be given to students who are pursuing a degree in church-related careers. The scholarship may be renewable upon successful completion of the previous year’s work.
