Educational Leadership Entrepreneurial Accelerator Grants Hall-Stobbs Endowment Fund

The Educational Leadership Entrepreneurial Accelerator Grants (EAG) Endowment Fund was established by Dr. Mary Jo (M.J.) Hall and Col.® Emmett (Jay) Stobbs, Jr. in August 2015. Dr. Hall, a High Point University alumna, Class of 1969, was a member of Who’s Who in American Universities and Colleges; President of the North Carolina Student Education Association; and a member of the Order of the Lighted Lamp and the Kappa Delta Pi honor society in education. She received a MEd in Human Development from the University of Maryland College Park, her MBA in Management and Business from Long Island University, and her PhD in Education Leadership from George Mason University. Her career includes 16+ years at the Defense Acquisition University where she served as an instructor, Director of Leadership, and Special Assistant to the Commandant and 8+ years designing and facilitating interactive learning labs for the Association for Talent Development. Col.® Stobbs is a graduate of West Point, Class of 1969, and was commissioned in the Corps of Engineers. During that year he also graduated from Ranger and Airborne schools. He served in the Army for 30 years. He is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the states of North Carolina and Virginia. Col. Stobbs received an MS from UC Davis in Applied Science and his MBA in Management and Business from Long Island University. He is a graduate of the US Army War College, Carlisle, PA. Up to three $1,500 EAGs will be awarded annually. These grants will recognize and support initiatives designed to solve critical educational problems of practice in the areas of leadership, district reform, improvements in P-21 student learning, teacher quality, and teacher preparation, recruitment and retention. Projects emphasizing the professional activities of collaboration, co-design and the implementation of innovative methodologies will be given priority. Candidates in the Ed.D. program in Educational Leadership are invited to apply for an EAG during their third year of study at High Point University. The grant should be based on the Dissertation in Professional Practice prospectus and be approved by the candidate’s University Doctoral Committee. Applicants should follow the guidelines set forth in the EAG Application. At the discretion of the School of Education, grant funding may be used to support the Educational Leadership Studio for opportunities that nurture significant thought leadership involving Learning/Understanding by Design. All EAG applications should include a clear statement of expected outcomes and plans for how the project results will be shared with key stakeholder groups. Examples include but are not limited to professional conference or district-level presentation, publication, video, blog or other appropriate venue.
