George C. Welch, Jr. Scholarship
The George C. Welch, Jr., Scholarship Fund was established through gifts received from Mr. George C. Welch, Jr., a member of the High Point College Class of 1962. Mr. Welch was a native of High Point, NC, and served as President of the Wampler Chemical Corporation of Harrisonburg, VA. The purpose of the scholarship fund is to assist the University in recruiting outstanding students who are graduates of two-year institutions of higher learning and have earned either the A.A. or A.S. degree. Eligible recipients must be entering the University as a junior, have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better, and must have demonstrated leadership qualities while attending the two-year school from which he/she graduated. A student must be a person of high character, determination and purpose, both secular and religious. Recipients are selected by the Office of Financial Planning. Scholarships are renewable with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater.
