George W. and Mary F. Holmes Scholarship

The Reverend George Washington and Mary Foust Holmes Memorial Scholarship was provided by their children – Mrs. Bessie Holmes Robbins; Mr. Ralph W. Holmes; Mr. George W. Holmes, Jr.; and Mr. Joseph W. Holmes – in their memory. The Reverend George Washington Holmes was one of the founders of High Point College, a member of the Board of Trustees, President of the General Conference of The Methodist Protestant Church in North Carolina and President of Yadkin College. Preference for the Holmes Memorial Scholarship will be given to students from Alamance County, North Carolina, studying for a career in the ministry or Christian education. If such a student is not available, the scholarship may be used at the discretion of the University. Recipients will be selected by the Office of Financial Planning. Scholarships may be renewable based on the successful completion of the previous year’s work.
