Herman and Louise Smith Scholarship

The Herman and Louise Smith Scholarship fund was established in 1986 through a gift from Mr. and Mrs. Smith, life-long supporters of the University, for which the Smith Library bears their name. Mr. Smith served on the Board of Trustees. Scholarships will be awarded to deserving students who show a strong desire to receive a college education and the potential to obtain that goal. There will no emphasis placed upon grade point averages, but preference will be given to students who have demonstrated financial need. Recipients may be selected regardless of their year of enrollment and the scholarship will be renewable upon satisfactory completion of the previous year’s academic work. No restrictions based upon area of study or geographic residence will be placed upon the scholarship with regard to determining recipients. Scholarship recipients are selected by the Office of Financial Planning.
