J. Richard Hayworth Endowed Scholarship

The J. Richard Hayworth Scholarship was established in 1992 through gifts from Mr. Hayworth’s wife, Mrs. Sybel F. Hayworth. Mr. Hayworth was a local businessman characterized by his quiet and gentle leadership. He was president of Hayworth Roll and Panel and a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in High Point. Recipients of the Hayworth Scholarship will be selected by the Office of Financial Planning at High Point University. Preference will be given to students who have a demonstrated financial need with highest priority being given to residents of North Carolina. Although the scholarship may be available for any worthy and qualified student, emphasis should be placed upon those majoring in education and preparing for teaching careers. Students should demonstrate sound character traits and maintain acceptable academic progress within their major and in related courses. Scholarships may be available upon successful completion of the previous year’s work.
