Jacob C. and Elizabeth S. Martinson Endowed Scholarship
The Jacob C. and Elizabeth S. Martinson Endowed Scholarship was established in 1997 by Dr. Richard E. McDowell ‘65, President of the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford in Pennsylvania. Other friends and family members also contributed substantially to the scholarship fund. Dr. Jacob Martinson was President of High Point University from 1985 through 2005. During his presidency, the institution changed from college to university status and experienced unprecedented growth in enrollment, programs, facilities, and national stature. Prior to coming to High Point, Dr. Martinson served as President of Brevard College in Brevard, NC, and Andrew College in Cuthbert, GA. Recipients of the Martinson Scholarship will be selected by the Office of Financial Planning. Priority will be given to students who have demonstrated well defined character and citizenship traits. Preference will be given to students who have a demonstrated financial need. Scholarships may be renewed based upon satisfactory completion of the previous year’s work.
