James B. and Dell C. Johnson Scholarship

The James Buchanan and Dell Conrad Johnson Endowed Scholarship was established in 1999 by gifts from the Johnson family and friends. Mr. Johnson’s career was spent with Piedmont Aviation and US Airways in Winston-Salem. He passed away in June 1999. Mrs. Johnson, Class of 1961, has been President of the Alumni Association, 1973-1976, and has continued to serve actively as a member of the University’s Alumni Board and Board of Visitors. Recipients of the Johnson Scholarship are selected by the Office of Financial Planning. Proceeds from the scholarship will be used to assist North Carolina students who are rising juniors or seniors in the Department of Education. Preference will be given to qualified students from North Carolina specializing in education programs for exceptional children. Scholarships may be renewable based upon the successful completion of the previous year’s work.
