Lela Coltrane Scholarship
The Lela Hayworth Coltrane Scholarship was established in April 1993 from an estate bequest by Mrs. Lela H. Coltrane, a native of Randolph County and a life trustee of High Point College. Mrs. Coltrane was the first president of the Board of Visitors of Divinity School at Duke University and a founding trustee of the Methodist Retirement Home. Mrs. Coltrane made her home in Raleigh, NC. First preference for the Coltrane Scholarship will be given to students who life in North Carolina. It was the donor’s wish to give this preference to residents of North Carolina in the hope that the recipients will remain in North Carolina and contribute to its general welfare. Recipients will be selected by the Office of Financial Planning. Scholarships may be renewable upon successful completion of the previous year’s work.
