Mr. and Mrs. Carr demonstrate significant interest in High Point University and wish to establish a scholarship to support future High Point University students. In 1985, Mr. Carr established Carr Properties (a commercial real estate company). He realized that small and midsize companies are often overlooked by developers As a result, these businesses have had to settle for leasing their office space instead of purchasing it. Mr. Carr made it his business to develop office space that is extremely adaptive to the needs of small and medium-sized businesses. He realized that a company’s office space is one of the most important assets of a successful business. Mrs. Carr attended Furman University and graduated from Elon University with a Business Education degree. She enjoyed a career with IBM as a systems engineer and direct marketing strategist and manager for North America. The recipient(s) of the scholarship will be selected on the basis of financial need as determined by the High Point University Office of Financial Planning with first preference going to a student from the City of High Point.
