Murphy and Janice Osborne Scholarship
The Osborne Scholarship was established in 1997 by Janice Solomon Osborne and Murphy M. Osborne, Jr. of Raleigh, North Carolina. The Osbornes attended High Point University and met here before their marriage. Dr. Osborne later served the institution as a Vice President. Because Dr. Osborne was grateful for his financial assistance received through the athletic program, and both he and Mrs. Osborne were indebted to the college for the quality of education received and for the friends generated because of their association with the college, they were particularly interested in assuring that academically qualified athletes be given the opportunity to attend the University. Therefore, priority will be given to student-athletes who participate in one or more intercollegiate programs sponsored by High Point University. Recipients may be selected at any time during their academic experience at HPU and should display sound character and leadership traits. Selection of the recipient(s) will be made by the Office of Financial Planning upon recommendation by the Athletic Director. Scholarships will be automatically renewable upon successful completion of the previous year’s work.
