Ollie Bieniemy, Jr. Endowed Scholarship

The Ollie Bieniemy, Jr. Endowed Scholarship was established in his memory in 2006 by gifts from industry friends and colleagues. Mr. Bieniemy was the first advertising director of Furniture|Today, the leading weekly business newspaper of the United States furniture industry, where he was an integral part of the publication’s launch in 1976. His passion for furniture and home furnishings, combined with his ability to create and implement start-up goals and strategies, resulted in Furniture|Today becoming an industry leader. Ollie is remembered for his marketing acumen and his personal relationship skills. The Bieniemy Award is the most prestigious scholarship offered by the Earl N. Phillips School of Business at High Point University. The primary purpose is to award a merit-based scholarship to a rising senior who best exemplifies the values of the School of Business and the recipient will be selected by the Dean of the School. Criteria for selection is as follows: a) academic performance, b) University and community service, c) extracurricular activities, d) a brightness of character, and e) work ethic. Selection of the recipient will be announced at the University’s Annual Awards Day Celebration in April and a public presentation for media purposes will be made annually at the Departmental Awards Ceremony.
