Robert W. and Bessie Buckner Wood Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Robert W. and Bessie Buckner Wood Endowed Scholarship was established in September 1986 through bequests from the Woods’ estate. Mr. Wood, a Randolph County native, established the Wood Insurance Agency in Asheboro in 1932. Mrs. Wood, a native of Madison County, taught school in Goldsboro. Preference for scholarships will go to students from Randolph County, Guilford County, and North Carolina, in that order, with documented financial need.
