Surratt Endowed Scholarship

The Surratt Endowed Scholarship at High Point University was established in May 2018 by James E. Surratt and Elizabeth B. Surratt in honor of their son, Tommy, who has autism. Dr. Surratt is a member of the HPU Class of 1965. He received a master’s degree from UNCG and an PhD from Duke. He and Mrs. Surratt met as students at High Point University. She finished her undergraduate degree at UNCG and received a master’s in Bi-lingual Education from Southern University. The Surratts live in Austin, TX. The Surratt family is passionate about Special Education. The Surratt Endowed Scholarship recipient, as selected by the Office of Financial Planning, will be selected on the basis of financial need from eligible undergraduate students majoring in Special Education (Special Curriculum). The scholarship may be renewable upon the successful completion of the previous year’s work.
