Sydney E. Shaw Family Endowed Scholarship

Set up 8-7-18 per email from Rita Williams Charles T. Shaw and Lisa S. Shaw of Blythewood, South Carolina have two children. Their daughter, Sydney is enrolled at High Point University in the class of 2019. This scholarship was established in honor of her, and other gifted students like her that learn differently. Lisa S. Shaw is the Executive Director of The Big Red Barn Retreat, a nonprofit that provides free therapeutic services for veterans and their families. Ms. Shaw is also the co-owner and Marketing Director of Boom Inc., a licensed Sonic Drive-In franchise operating in five states. Charles T. Shaw is employed by United Airlines as a Captain on the Boeing 777. The Sydney E. Shaw Family Endowed Scholarship was established in July, 2018 through a gift from Mrs. Lisa S. and Mr. Charles T. Shaw, of Blythewood, South Carolina. The Fund shall be administered under the following guidelines: Recipients will be selected on the basis of financial need from eligible undergraduate students as determined by the High Point University Office of Financial Planning. First preference will be given to students with a documented learning difference and eligible for the Student Accessibility and Services program. This scholarship may be renewed upon the successful completion of the previous year’s work.
