Watson Golf Scholarship
The Watson Golf Scholarship was established in 1989 by Roger C. Watson, Class of 1966, and family members. Proceeds from the earnings of the Watson Scholarship will be used toward the educational costs of selected members of the University’s Golf Team. Preference will be given to golf team members who have maintained sound academic progress. Financial need will be given consideration but should not be the sole determining factor. Rather, the Watson Scholarship – Athlete will be selected based upon a combination of factors including academic standing, contributions to the golf team, financial need, general leadership and contributions to the university community. A committee consisting of the golf coach, a representative on the faculty, and a representative of the Board of Trustees who are also members of the University’s Panther Club may be assigned the responsibility to recommend scholarship recipients. The scholarship may be renewable upon successful completion of the previous year’s work.
