Willie Carol Fritts Brinkley Endowed Scholarship

The Willie Carol Fritts Brinkley Endowed Scholarship was established in March 2001. A resident of Lexington, Mrs. Brinkley was a member of the High Point College Class of 1929. Mrs. Brinkley worked as a teacher and administrator in the Davidson County School System for twenty-three years. She also served as a Trustee at Davidson County Community College from 1965 to 1983 and was Chairwoman her final two years before retirement. She was a noted United Methodist leader and represented the denomination in conference and national positions of leadership. A civic and community leader, Mrs. Brinkley held local, statewide and regional membership in health, service, professional and historical societies and organizations. Mrs. Brinkley passed away in 2001 at the age of 92. Recipients of the Brinkley Endowed Scholarship shall be residents of Davidson County for at least five consecutive years with preference being given to students who attended North Davidson High School. Priority will also be given to students enrolled in the graduate school at HPU who are preparing for careers in education and/or nonprofit service. Scholarships may be renewable upon successful completion of the previous year’s work.
